My concern is that we have a number of supervisors that do the same thing with their radios plus we have a number of accounts that we have 20 plus radios that sit on the chargers when not in use. Has anyone experienced anything like this before or have any idea what could of caused this. I know the Li-ion batteries can catch on fire but not this style battery.
These radios use a 7.2 Nickel-Metal Hydride battery. I know that the radios were not on the chargers because the chargers were not melted but the 4 radios were melted and stuck together. Thank god it wasn't much worse than some black soot on the wall. He went into his kitchen and found the radios on fire. He went to sleep and was awoken 4 or 5 hrs later to smoke alarms. A few nights ago one of our supervisors took his 4 radios home and set them on his kitchen counter. We are a security company and some of our accounts don't have a place for us to keep our radios so the site Supervisor will take the radios home to charge. I am new here and appreciate any help or advice that anyone has to offer.Ī few weeks ago we bought a number of brand new Motorola Mag One A8 two way radios.

Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate just purchase it.įor M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios.
#MAG ONE A8 SERIES#
Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
